Urban Water & Water Resources Engineering
Water and Wastewater Engineering aims to manage the main challenges and strategies in key areas of the water and wastewater field, based on a comprehensive understanding of the urban water cycle. Society is facing an immense demand on renewing the infrastructure for distribution of potable water, as well as the collection of municipal wastewater. This requires basic knowledge of the methods and tools suitable for analyzing, evaluating and implementing solutions for processing and distribution of potable water, for collecting and treating wastewater, as well as water runoff from rain and snow melt.
An MSc in Environmental Engineering with specialist skills in water and wastewater eng. can:
-
Apply knowledge for identification, selection and design of sustainable solutions in health, environmental and economic perspectives
-
Contribute to the development and implementation of new environmental technology solutions to meet society's challenges in the field of water and wastewater systems, with emphasis on the effect of urbanization, climate change and infrastructure aging
-
Execute a professional understanding and attitude regarding knowledge, planning and research, adapted to changing circumstances and the need for new knowledge, with emphasis on how to meet complex and demanding environmental challenges of today and in the future
-
Communicate and collaborate with specialists in multidisciplinary teams, particularly in the wide competence field of water and wastewater engineering, in order to perform a comprehensive and professionally-oriented job in the environmental field
-
Recognize or understand the need to evaluate and assess water and wastewater systems in a technological, ethical and social context, and take responsibility related to sustainability, environmental and financial factors and to social welfare
-
Maintain a professional competence through lifelong learning
